Existing Business Services - Provide comprehensive economic and business development data, information, expertise and consultation to area businesses.

Business Resource Central - Provide professional economic and business development services and support the owners, managers and employees of area businesses with comprehensive resources provided by strategic partners.

Business Consultation - Develop and manage a business-to-business consultation program with professional consultation to small businesses.

Business Incubator - Establish specialized service to assist new venture formation and new product development.

Business Contact & Support Services - Communicate regularly with businesses to learn of opportunities to provide support.

Business Incentives & Finance - Provide and promote information and services to new and expanding businesses.

Management Training - Provide training opportunities (workshops, seminars & short courses) to improve business performance, encourage retention and growth.

New Business Development - Build and maintain a world-class program of economic development recruitment and business services.

Database Maintenance - Achieve and maintain a high quality database for community businesses and economic development.

Website Maintenance & Marketing - Maintain a top quality comprehensive website as the focal point to market community advantages and services.

Marketing, Communications & Community Promotion - Develop a comprehensive marketing & communications plan that will heighten Broken Arrow's visibility, change perceptions and improve the image and prestige of the community.

Targeted Industry & Special Interest Groups - Organize groups to provide support for the expansion and attraction of targeted industries and specialized support programs:

  • Manufacturer's Council - Organize activities and services in support of manufacturing.

  • Real Estate Council - Identify impediments to development & construction and seek improvements.

  • Entrepreneurs Association - Establish an Entrepreneurs Association to encourage the formation of new ventures and to support entrepreneurial activities and the survival and improvement of businesses.

  • Technology Council - Develop methods and means of support for technology oriented companies.

  • Targeted Industries - Establish target industry working groups for each targeted industry. Champion the development of the sector and develop specific strategies, craft sales pitches, identify prospects to expand/attract related companies.

Incentives, Finance & Accommodations - Customize incentive and development policies to attract and expand targeted and other industries with strong margins, proven technologies, large investments and quality jobs.

Establish an Angel Network and Venture Capital - Identify sources of venture funding to stimulate new business formations, survival and growth as well as new product developments.

Commercial Sites & Developments - Identify potential sites and develop strategies to encourage development and marketing.

Promote Business Center Developments - Determine strategies that will reduce barriers to business developments for retail, industrial, office, mixed use and other business oriented centers.

Develop a "Telework" Center - Explore the feasibility of opening a Telework Center as an alternative work place.

Retail Trade Development & Promotion - Develop and execute concepts and promotions to promote retail trade.

Buy Broken Arrow - Develop plans to promote increased retail trade throughout the year by modernizing mechanics and expanding participation by merchants and consumers.

Community Development

Branding- Improve the identity and image of the community through community enhancement programs and projects.

Community Image & Beautification - Make plans and executes activities to improve the appearance and image of the community.

Downtown Revitalization - Implement strategies and plans to preserve the integrity of Broken Arrow's heritage areas while modernizing, transforming and revitalizing the downtown community into a sustainable economic mixed use center.

Health & Wellness - Support programs and activities to encourage community health and fitness in order to improve our community's lifestyle and contribute to controlling health insurance costs.

Entertainment & Recreation - Expand venues and opportunities for leisure enjoyment including the development of a Festival Park.

Cultural Affairs - Establish a plan to enhance and advance the arts and the appreciation of art and design in the community.

Rooster Days Festival - Develop a plan to evolve "Rooster Days" into a higher quality, more broadly recognized, more highly promoted event with a more diverse program to attract a broader attendance base.

Strategic Community Planning - Establish a variety of opportunities for community strategic planning to be influenced by research, evaluation, best practices and leadership.

Strategic Planning Process, Summits and Retreats - Guide strategic goal setting by planning and implementing a process that encourages broad participation through continual research and study, deliberations, consensus building and policy determinations.

Strategic Planning Implementation - Ensure implementation of adopted goals, reporting periodically on progress toward implementation.

Model City Study Tours - Organize an annual (or biannual) leadership tour of a "Best Practices" Model City.

Leadership Development - Support LBA's leadership development programs.

Public Affairs & Public Policy

Public Safety & Security - Provide support for those involved in protecting our community and providing security.

Community Preparedness - Evaluate risks of disasters and promote business and community preparation for prevention; while being organized for quick response and recovery.

Law & Order - Determine preventative actions that can be taken to protect the work place, homes and community gathering places from criminal activity; make plans to support those in criminal justice in maintaining the community's low crime rate.

Fire & Public Safety - Assess ways to support the fire and accident emergency responders/service providers.

Study issues and take appropriate actions - Protect and defend business, economic and community development interests legislatively and administratively.

Tort & Workers Compensation Reform - Aggressively advocate for changes in Tort and Workers Compensation laws that will lead to a reducing costs in Oklahoma to a competitive level.

State Government Issues - Consider business climate issues and take appropriate actions to influence governmental outcomes.

Federal Government Issues - Evaluate proposed legislation impacting local businesses, governments and the community; communicate positions as appropriate.

City & County Government Issues - Understand the issues affecting Broken Arrow's city government and provide support to protect the community interests; support a fair share philosophy of state and county government services.

Tulsa/Wagoner County Issues - Understand and react to County government issues and communicate with County officials to influence satisfactory outcome

City Policies & Practices Issues - Learn about priorities and ordinances, problems and issues, governance and management of our City in order to support and improve efforts to maximize quality developments and operations.

K-12 Public Education Issues - Consider issues of interest to the business community regarding public schools; provide input to local issues governmental influence when appropriate.

Public Revenue, Ways & Means - Develop expertise in the source of government revenues, consider capital improvement and operational needs and seek ways to achieve better efficiencies (cross functional planning) and additional revenues to improve infrastructure and operations.

Northeastern State University Development - Promote and support the expansion of the Northeastern State University System and the development of the Broken Arrow Campus; take measures to maximize the return on investment and to achieve the fullest potential of economic impact.

Business/Education/Government Relations - Regularly consider and arrange opportunities to build relationships between leadership sectors of and related to the community.

State & Regional Alliances - Plan and execute programs to build cooperative and collaborative relationships with other communities, organizations and governmental entities.

Workforce Development & Education Council - Find solutions to human resource availability and preparedness; implement programs to improve the quality and quantity of the Workforce pool.

Employment Issues & Services - Monitor workforce difficulties and implement policies and programs to improve the situation.

Workforce Skill Center - Partner with Workforce Tulsa and Workforce Oklahoma to provide and promote job skill profiles, skill assessment, WorkKeys certifications, skill enhancements and employment qualification requirements.

BAPS Issues & Opportunities - Learn about the issues faced by the public schools and support improvements to continue excellence.

UPS Issues & Opportunities - Establish closer communications and seek council on ways that Broken Arrow leadership can support excellence and continued improvements.

Higher & Technical Education - Establish regular dialogue with NSU, TCC and TTC to improve cooperative efforts to maximize local impact of those assets.

Transportation, Infrastructure & Communications - Partner with City officials to develop private sector and taxpayer familiarity with the process and politics of expanding and maintaining infrastructure and provide leadership to achieve first class and sustainable development.

Infrastructure Improvement & Expansion:

  • Streets & Highways - Develop knowledge regarding the planning, funding and construction; seek support to develop roads necessary to expand business developments.

  • Air, Rail & River - Understand and advocate for the value, advantages and needs of air, rail and river transportation.

  • Utilities & Communications - Catalogue information and advocate aggressive improvements as a competitive advantage for attracting developments.

  • Cross Functional Coordination - Regularly convene business, government and school executives to improve communications and awareness of emerging needs, issues and activities to enhance planning, coordination and scheduling.

Organization Programs & Development

Member Recognitions & Promotions - Welcome and assimilate members into the organization and provide promotional introductions and visibility to member businesses.

Ambassador's Club - Celebrate with member businesses various recognitions (grand openings, anniversaries, expansions, etc.), host special occasions and encourage promotional opportunities.

Chairman's Club - Introduce new members to chamber events, programs and opportunities.

Awards Banquet - Host a gala social event to recognize and honor those who have provided exceptional service to the Chamber and the community.

Christmas Party & Auction - Host the Chamber's festive Christmas Party and Benefit Auction.

Expo '08 Trade Show - Showcase Broken Arrow business products and services.

Business Networking Events - Provide opportunities for members to become better acquainted, market to one another and serve their community.

Chamber/NSU Golf Tournament - Fundraiser benefits Chamber programs, NSU scholarships and internships.

Organization & Program Development - Expand financial resources to maximize Chamber results through programs and operations that provide more bottom line benefits to our members and sponsors.

Membership & Sponsorship Sales & Service - Consult with and support the staff with the development of membership and sponsorship benefits and bottom lines.

Communications & Marketing Council - Develop and implement public relations, advertising and marketing ideas to be used by the chamber to advance and protect the image of the Chamber and Broken Arrow.

Forum Luncheons & Special Programs - Advance the Chamber's Program Agenda by providing related Forums.

Advisory Board Meetings - Communicate and collaborate with community leadership periodically on emerging issues, challenges and opportunities.

Organization Improvement - Improve the Chamber's administration through a self-evaluation and organization improvement process in nine areas of Chamber operation.

  • Leadership Planning Sessions - Short course on roles, responsibilities, expectations and requirements and program development.
